Walks The Talk wins well on hurdling debut Walks The Talk (7/2, from 6s before the off) made all under Alex Harvey to land the Kelly Hearing Specialists Mares Maiden Hurdle at Roscommon. A point-to-point winner and placed in two bumpers, the six-year-old, trained by John McConnell for the Keep Er Lit Syndicate, jumped neatly on hurdling debut and stayed on well from the second-last to beat Music of Life by five and a half lengths. Winning rider Alex Harvey said: “We quite liked her at home and thought she was always going to be a nice hurdler. “It’s a shame that she didn’t win her bumper, we thought she might have during the summer. “Hurdling is her game, especially coming out of James and Ellen Doyles’ as they are very well schooled. “I was able to buck her out there and keep things simple. She did things right there which is the main thing and hopefully it’s onwards and upwards from here. “Gordon’s (Elliott, Woodland Adventure) was unbeaten in three bumpers and the Hyde horse had good form in Listowel, and had plenty of runs over hurdles to help. “It was a good run and she’s a good mare. They paid a few quid for her so she’d every right to do that.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson
