Walsh and Carberry expected back this week

Racing at Killarney yesterday took it's toll both on horses and jockeys, with six horses lost and a number of riders left on the sidelines, in unfortunate circumstances.

However there was better news today on a number of the injured riders, with Ruby Walsh, Paul Carberry and Sean Flanagan are all expected back in the next few days after suffering 'soft tissue' injuries. Martin Ferris had a successful operation on his dislocated shoulder and hopes to be riding again within three weeks.

Following an unfortunate day's racing, the general consensus among trainers and jockeys was the track was in good condition, the ground was perfectly acceptable and safe and the incidents were unavoidable.

Willie Mullins, whose Imperial Hills was one of those lost at Killarney yesterday afternoon, has withdrawn all his runners this evening due to the changing ground.

The ground yesterday was yielding to soft but, following a very good drying day, the ground is now good for the jump races and good to yielding for the Flat.

A total of 16 horses have been withdrawn from this evening's card, with all bar two due to the changing ground.

In other jockey news, the luckless Adrian Joyce will be out of action for about three weeks after having his appendix removed in Roscommon General Hospital yesterday.
