Dundalk regular War Room gained his third course and distance success on the all-weather track with an easy win in the first division of the Ecological Waste Management Ltd Handicap.

The Shane Duffy-trained gelding tracked the leaders in the mile contest before heading for home over a furlong out.

The 3/1 joint-favourite stayed on strongly inside the final furlong to record a four-and-a-quarter success and give Shane Foley a double on the card.

All War Room's five career wins have come at Dundalk with the gelding also having won twice over the extended ten furlong trip.

“He’s a solid horse up here but needs a good strong ride, and Dusty gave him a peach,” said Duffy.

“He is what he is, a 0-65 handicapper, and he could come back here later in the month.

“That’s my first winner of the year but we’ve had eight seconds.”
