Weights crucial to Harry's Hennessy prospects

Connections of Diamond Harry are keen to see if Kauto Star will take his chance in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury on November 27.

If the dual Gold Cup and four-time King George winner lines up in Berkshire, Nick Williams' Diamond Harry would be 12lb out of the handicap.

However if Kauto Star were to go straight to the King George instead, Diamond Harry would only be 4lb out of the weights, with Denman setting the mark.

"The Hennessy is definitely the plan and we are looking forward to the race," said owner Paul Duffy.

"If Kauto doesn't run and Denman carries top weight he'll be 4lb out of the handicap but if Kauto did happen to turn up that would put us 12lb out.

"It would be a surprise if he did run but we'd have to judge it at the time. A lot of the other horses would be equally inconvenienced, it's the same for them all.

"Second-season chasers do have good records in the Paddy Power and Hennessy, and he goes well fresh.

"We wouldn't want the ground that fast but he's not tied to the soft - good to soft would be fine."
