Trainer Dermot Weld is hopeful that the ever reliable Coeur D'or can run a big race in the Nasrullah Handicap at Leopardstown on Thursday evening.

A four-time winner, including over course and distance, the veteran enjoyed a remarkable summer two years ago, winning the BMW Mile and Irish Cambridgeshire back-to-back.

Although now a nine-year-old, the gelding showed that he was still more than capable at this level when fifth at the Curragh recently.

Having met trouble in running, Weld can see the son of Dubawi getting closer here: “He’s a great campaigner who always runs a good race and hopefully he will do it again. He has an each-way chance.

“The ground may be a little bit quick for him but he’s very well.”

Johnny Murtagh and Ben Coen teamed up for a treble at Fairyhouse yesterday evening and they are represented by Final Voyage in the €100,000 1m1f event.

“He ran a great race in the Ladies Race but it’s a big ask for him,” said Murtagh before adding: “He’s in good form and he likes good to firm ground.

“The form of that mile handicap (won by Slieve Binnian at the Curragh looks strong and there is a few in there that will be hard to beat.”
