Whelan gets 4 days at Wexford Meeting: Wexford, 27th August Race: 5 The Stewards interviewed R P Whelan, rider of Georgia Sky (USA), concerning his use of the whip in this race where it appeared he used his whip when his horse was out of contention. Having viewed the video of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found R P Whelan in breach of Regulation 10 2(b) (regarding the continued hitting of a horse after its chance of winning or being placed is clearly gone) and suspended him for four race days. Ger Flynn also attended this enquiry, representing RP Whelan.
