After a disappointing run in the Irish Derby, John Murphy's stable star White Birch is on the comeback trail and may reappear at Leopardstown next month.

A winner of the Ballysax Stakes there in April, the Ulysses colt was narrowly denied in the Dante next time before finishing a fine third under Colin Keane in the Epsom Derby.

He was never a factor in the Curragh showpiece but assistant trainer George Murphy, speaking after Space Age won for the yard at Tipperary on Friday, reported: “White Birch is in good form.

“He’ll probably go to the mile and a half Group 3 race (Kilternan Stakes) at Leopardstown on Champions Weekend.

“He’d a couple of easy weeks and is in super form.”
