Windermere waits for Hennessy Lord Windermere will bypass the JNwine.com Champion Chase at Down Royal on Saturday and wait for next month's Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury. The seven-year-old crowned a fine novice campaign over fences with victory in the RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in March and connections will be hoping he can return to Prestbury Park for next year's Gold Cup. With conditions deemed unsuitable in the north, he will now head straight for the Hennessy on November 30. Culloty told @pphorseracing: "Lord Windermere goes straight to the Hennessy. "At Down Royal the ground is kind of yielding but first time out I would like to see more juice so I'm going to avoid it and go straight to Newbury. "He's in brilliant form and I'd love to run, but I'm terrified of running the horse this year on a surface that has a bit of rain on it and the ground is firm underneath. "If I run him later it's too soon to the Hennessy so he'll go straight there."
