Michael Winters is not at all concerned about the possibility of a change of jockey for Rebel Fitz in the Guinness Galway Hurdle at the Ballybrit track on Thursday.

Davy Russell steered the progressive seven-year-old to victory over Captain Cee Bee in the Grimes Hurdle at Tipperary recently, but he may be claimed to ride another horse in the race.

Should Russell not be able to take the ride then the County Cork trainer will look to other jockeys who have had experience of his horse - Barry Geraghty and Ruby Walsh.

And if both those two are otherwise engaged, Winters does not expect to be short of offers from the best around.

"We wont worry too much about a jockey. If Davy (Russell) can't ride him we'll go back to Barry and if he can't ride him we'll go the next man who rode him before and that was Ruby Walsh.

"If he can't then we'll have to go for one of the young bloods like Paul Townend.

"We've not done too bad at Galway for a small yard and we're very lucky to have this horse who's improving and improving.

"He's a good jumper and he's very sound at the moment. It's most important they come out of a race in one piece."

Winters felt the 6lb penalty handed to Rebel Fitz for his latest success, bringing his weight for the valuable prize to 11st 5lb, was not too severe.

"He's got a 6lb penalty and I think that's fair enough, so we will be running," he said.

"We were always going to go unless he gave him 10lb or something like that."
