Wolverhampton abandoned Racing in Britain today has been wiped out after the only remaining meeting at Wolverhampton was lost due to snow. Access to the all-weather venue was deemed too dangerous because of heavy snow in the area. The meeting was earlier given the go ahead at 9.30am following three morning inspections but officials decided to abandon at mid-day as conditions worsened. Heavy snow began to fall in the Midlands late in the morning, and acting clerk of the course Andy Waitt was forced to admit defeat. 'We've had to abandon I'm afraid. The snow is really heavy now and no matter how much work we put in to the track it just keeps on falling. It is a real pain but there is nothing we can do,' said Waitt. Today's other scheduled meetings at Southwell and Lingfield also fell victim to the wintry weather this morning.
