Today's English meetings at Worcester and Catterick go ahead following early-morning course inspections.

Officials at Worcester moved forward an hour their proposed 7.30am assessment after a dry night.

More rain is forecast later today, but conditions were deemed suitable for the meeting to be given the go-ahead.

Clerk of the course Fergus Cameron said: "We didn't have any further rain, which was good news.

"What we would say, though, is that there is further rain forecast, so we wouldn't want a massive amount.

"We will continue to monitor the situation."

Meanwhile, five millimetres of overnight rain failed to dampen the spirits of course officials at Catterick who were satisfied the track was fit for racing.

Clerk of the course Fiona Needham said: "There are more showers forecast later on, but racing goes ahead."

The going is soft, with the six-race card due to commence at 2.10pm.
