York stand fall a 'tragic accident' Police in the UK are treating the death of a 21-year-old man who fell from a stand at York yesterday afternoon, as a tragic accident. The incident happened at around 5.30pm when the Bradford man fell from the Knavesmire Stand. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Inspector Charlotte Bloxham, of York Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "Although we do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances and are treating the death as a tragic accident, I am appealing to anyone who was in the Knavesmire Stand at the time to contact the police." Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact York police on 101. The fall happened after the last race had finished, it was understood.
