Youmzain in great form for Hong kong Vase Mick Channon is hoping Sunday's Hong Kong Vase will be run to suit his often 'frustrating' perennial bridesmaid Youmzain. The consistent six-year-old notched a third consecutive second place in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe last time out at the start of October, but Channon is in buoyant mood ahead of a first appearance in Hong Kong. Kieren Fallon will start from stall seven at the weekend, just outside of another English raider Spanish Moon, as Youmzain keeps the blinkers which were first introduced at Longchamp. "The ground is good here and I like the racing here. They stack them up a bit and when you turn in, you usually get a bit of a crack and I would hope that it will work. They tend to open up and it is a proper race over the last two furlongs," said Channon. "He is in great form. It is the end of a long season, but we think he is in great form. "We have had a good preparation and since the Arc we decided to come here, so that has given us a bit more time. He appears in good heart and we have got to go and do it. "I have analysed the reasons why we have just missed on so many occasions. Sometimes we have been unlucky and the race has not gone his way, but that happens when you are taking on Group One company all the time. "He is an easy horse to ride so that is why it is frustrating when he gets in trouble like in Dubai and the Coronation Cup. "He has thrown a few races away. When he is good he is very good, but is doesn't happen quite often enough." Youmzain has finished no worse than fifth on his last 17 starts at Group One level over 12 furlongs, with the Arc representing a fourth consecutive top three finish. "We went to Germany in preparation for the Arc and got beat, but that didn't worry me," added Channon.
