Zabana waits for Irish Gold Cup Day Zabana will wait for the Grade One Flogas Novice Chase at Leopardstown on February 6 after bypassing an option at the Foxrock venue this weekend. Trained by Andrew Lynch, Zabana could not have been more impressive on his chasing debut at the Christmas meeting, with the well-regarded Tell Us More back in third. He was a smart hurdler last season, finishing a close second in the Coral Cup and third in a Grade One at Punchestown, but he looks like being a better chaser already. "We'll go for the Grade One on February 6," said Lynch. "It's over two miles and five furlongs which should suit him well. "He jumped well on debut. My worry going there was that he'd never missed a beat schooling and you worry what will happen if they meet one wrong in a race, but bar getting in tight to one he was very good. "Davy Russell had been to school him four or five times before it, he rides all the owners horses now, and he's got to know him well. "They went a good gallop and it looked a good race, the fourth (Mr Diablo) just got beat the other day. "Hopefully he keeps on jumping as he has."
