Zand could reappear at Curragh on Sunday The Listed TRM Silver Stakes takes centre stage at the Curragh this Sunday, 9th June and the 10 furlong contest has attracted a strong entry of 20 horses at today’s entry stage. John Oxx landed this prize 12 months ago and the Curragh-based trainer will rely on either Stepwise or Zand. The latter holds an entry in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby later in the month and has yet to be seen this season. The son of Zamindar only had two runs last term and was most impressive on his final outing when coming home clear of his rivals in a Leopardstown maiden in October. Meanwhile, the Ballydoyle challenge will come from either Count Of Limonade, Lines Of Battle, Fortify, Freewheel or Kingston Jamaica. David Wachman is another trainer who is well represented here and included among his three entries is the hat-trick seeking Seussical. The latter opened his account for the season at first time of asking when he comfortably landed a Dundalk handicap back in March and the son of Galileo made it two in a row when defying top weight in a Gowran Park handicap last week. This is a step up in class for him, but he deserves a crack at this level. Bye Bye Birdie is one of eight Ballydoyle possibles among the 27 entries for the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden and the daughter of Oasis Dream should go one better following her narrow defeat by Glassatura at the last meeting here just over a week ago. The first of seven competitive races at the Curragh next Sunday commences at 2.20pm and the ground is currently Good To Firm and being watered. Admission 15 euro, Under 25s and seniors 8 euro, under 16s free.
