Zawraq out for the season Zawraq, once a leading contender for the Investec Derby until injury intervened, will not run again this season but should be campaigned in 2016. The Dermot Weld-trained colt is reported to be recuperating well at Derrinstown Stud after he was forced to miss Epsom when he sustained a crack in his off-fore cannon bone. The Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum-owned son of Shamardal is unbeaten in two starts, winning the Leopardstown 2,000 Guineas Trial on his seasonal debut in April from Endless Drama, who went on to finish second to Gleneagles in the Irish 2,000 Guineas. "He's still at Derrinstown Stud recuperating. I saw him three weeks ago and he was just walking. He won't get back this year," said Sheikh Hamdan's racing manager, Angus Gold. "He's fine but after they found the crack in a joint it's going to be three months before he goes into training, so he will have missed this season. "He's too good a horse to rush back for not very much, so we'll give him plenty of time and hopefully get him ready for next season."
