Zenyatta return speculation

Speculation is mounting in American that wonder mare Zenyatta could make a sensational return to racing after she was put through her paces at Hollywood Park on Wednesday.

The six-year-old was a brilliant winner of the Breeders' Cup Classic in November, taking her record to 14 unbeaten and seemingly earning her retirement.

Trainer John Shirreffs insists owners Jerry and Ann Moss have not deviated from their statement after Santa Anita - that Zenyatta was retired and would be bred in 2010 - but three workouts in six weeks means rumours of a return to the racecourse are rife.

"That decision is Mr Moss's and he hasn't said anything other than what he said after the Breeders' Cup," Shirreffs told www.drf.com.

"I think a lot of people would like to see her run and I would also say she's accomplished enough and let her retire."
