A former point-to-point winner, the John McConnell trained Agent Tequila recorded a first career success under Rules when landing the Jim Ryan Racecourse Services Handicap Hurdle at Wexford.

Unplaced on all 11 previous outings, the eight-year-old gelding was well supported from 18/1 down to 13/2 to gain a first victory.

Leading two out under jockey Alex Harvey, the Flyers Syndicate owned gelding stayed on well to beat The Cobblers Wife by half-a-length.

Jockey Alex Harvey said: "He's been a frustrating horse. Things haven't really gone his way. We've had a clear run of it there the last month or so with him. It was an ideal opportunity to get his head in front. It wasn't the strongest of 0-100's. He had a lovely position and jumped like a buck. I'm delighted for the owners now. They have this lad three years and he's got the monkey off his back there."
