Ahern to regain Pimpernel mount John Dunlop has confirmed Eddie Ahern is set to regain the ride on Elusive Pimpernel in the StanJames.com 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on May 1. Ahern rode the three-year-old in each of his three juvenile starts but missed out on his impressive win in Thursday's Craven Stakes, in which he was partnered by champion jockey Ryan Moore, due to suspension. "I think Eddie will ride him. He's ridden him in all his other races and was suspended on Thursday, so hopefully he will be back in the plate next time," said Dunlop. There were a few moments of concern for Elusive Pimpernel's supporters in the middle part of the Group Three Craven as Moore was one of the first jockeys at work - but Dunlop was not overly concerned. "I don't know whether he got outpaced, and I think he probably just got a bit unbalanced for a few strides going into the dip," the Arundel handler told At The Races. "Last year I actually thought softer ground would suit him best of all as he's got a rather rounded action and does hit the ground a bit hard, but that wasn't the case in the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster. "We were delighted with him. There would be a question about the strength of the opposition, I suppose, but he couldn't do more than he did."
