The Sunday 10th May Leopardstown Family Day Handicap, for horses rated to 0-60 over a mile, went to Launch Time in the hands of  Robbie Colgan.

Backed from 14/1 to 8/1 on this seasonal debut, the Noel Flanagan-owned gelding was drawn wide but soon got into a nice position on the heels of the leaders and travelled strongly throughout.

Shaken up to lead a furlong out, he was ridden out to hold Cleopatra's Needle by three-parts of a length.

“I’m very happy with him. He was placed last year and I thought the cheekpieces might work,” said winning trainer Cian Hughes.

“He didn’t like Dundalk so we just kept him for the turf. Hopefully he’ll win another one, I’m delighted to get that.

“We had three winners in Dundalk and that’s our first on the grass. We only have half a dozen to run and hopefully we can get more.

“He won’t go up much for that. I think there is a 0-60 in Cork for him and we’ll see how he is.

“He will come on from that, because we didn’t work him too hard.”
