Amiata added to previous wins at Navan and Naas when bursting through late-on to take the Sky Bet Price Boosts Premier Handicap for three-year-olds at the Curragh.

The Ger Lyons-trained 7/1 chance had plenty to do under Colin Keane on the run to the furlong pole but he picked up well and led 50 yards from the line to score by a neck from Jessica Harrington’s 7/2 favourite Real Encounter with 6/1 shot Allsortz only a nose away in third place for David Marnane.

Lyons said of the Philip and Norma Richards-owned winner, “He’s a fun horse. He loves that up and down in that company. Penalties will stop him a couple of times and when the handicapper is kind to him he’ll do that.

“He’s for a lovely owner, who isn’t here tonight. He had three entries tonight, one was taken out. The two-year-old (La Tache) ran well, doing it all wrong, and then this lad won for him.

“He’s a good, fun, horse to have while the two-year-olds are growing up.

“Philip and Norma Richards are Welsh but they live in the Isle Of Man.”
