Irish point-to-point winner Classic Getaway has sold at Goffs UK Sale for a record-equalling £570,000 today, a month after that record for a point-to-point horse was set.

Classic Getaway was the impressive eight lengths winner of his only point-to-point start for handler Donnchadh Doyle and owner the Monbeg Syndicate at Borris House point-to-point last month and today sold for the record-equalling sum to bloodstock agent Tom Malone and trainer Gordon Elliott.

Douvan's half-brother Jonbon had set the record on November 11 when selling to owner JP McManus for £570,000 at the same Goffs UK sale.

Classic Getaway was partnered to victory in Borris House by Rob James and the jockey today said "he gave me an unbelievable feel and is one of the nicest horses I've ever ridden.

"He has a big engine and I'd say he would go on any ground. He has an obvious touch of class."
