Appleby turns to Goodwood with Decken Coventry Stakes fifth Van Der Decken will have his first run for Charlie Appleby at Glorious Goodwood. Having made a winning debut at the Curragh in May, he was promptly bought by Godolphin but remained in trainer Paddy Twomey's care for Royal Ascot. He was certainly not disgraced in a red-hot renewal of the Coventry, looking sure to win decent races, and will get the chance to prove that at Goodwood. "Van Der Decken is a nice, straightforward little horse," said Appleby. "It was a pleasing run at Ascot and it looks as if he'll be going to Goodwood. "He'll either run in the Vintage or the Richmond and he certainly won't look out of place in either of those."
