The ground at Royal Ascot remains Good to Firm after four millimetres of watering took place at the track on Thursday night.

The forecast showers have failed to materialise and despite being overcast it remained dry for the most part on Friday morning, with only light drizzle falling for a short period.

Chris Stickels, Clerk of the Course, said this morning: "It hasn't rained here since last Saturday so we put four millimetres of water on last night to provide a bit of moisture for the soil. It had dried a lot over Wednesday and Thursday.

"Yesterday evening was a great time to water. I don't imagine that we will have to water again tonight.

"They are still forecasting the possibility of the odd shower, it looks a bit overcast now but there doesn't seem to be anything too much on the horizon.

"I think there is maybe more chance of the odd shower tomorrow so we will have to see. They haven't been particularly accurate forecasts this week."
