'Awesome' Dawn Approach Ahead of one of the biggest trials for the Investec Derby, Jim Bolger has issued an upbeat bulletin over the prospects of ante-post favourite Dawn Approach. The 2000 Guineas winner is the hot favourite for the Epsom Classic on June 1, although Bolger will saddle Trading Leather in today's Dante Stakes at York and could also throw that colt into the mix for the Derby. However although Bolger said he was hopeful of a good run from Trading Leather, his confidence in New Approach remains unyielding. Referring to his decision pre-Newmarket to simply describe New Approach's condition as 'awesome', Bolger said: "He's still awesome! He's very well, we're very happy with him. "He had a little breeze this morning just to keep his pipes open and he's very happy with life himself. "He came out of the race well and he's been bucking and squealing ever since. He has a very good temperament, but coupled with that he's very hardy and resilient and taken everything we have thrown at him." As for Trading Leather, the trainer said he was hoping for better weather at York. "He travelled over yesterday [Tuesday] and we're hoping we get no more rain," he said. "If the ground was on the good side I'd be hoping he'd give a good account of himself. I think he's fairly ready, so we'd expect him to run a good race."
