The Irish EBF (Fillies) Maiden (Smullen Series) over a mile was added to Dundalk's card from the truncated meting at Cork on Tuesday and Golden Ring (4/7 into 2/5 on the show) won in the manner befitting an odds-on chance.

Wayne Lordan bounced out in front on the Coolmore-owned daughter of Wootton Bassett, who had been third in a useful Cork maiden on her previous outing, and she led all the way to beat State Of Clarity by four lengths.

Chris Armstrong was on hand to represent winning trainer Aidan O'Brien and he commented "She was very impressive and I'd say there is loads in there.

"Obviously, last time she had a lovely run (third, Cork), so you think with normal improvement she would be hard to beat.

"She just coasted away in front but, in fairness, when Wayne asked her to quicken, she really quickened.

"She's a filly you'd think her best form would nearly be with a slight ease in it (ground), but it is good that she came here and did it here. At the end of the day, she is a Wootton Bassett and they can do anything.

"I suppose now the logical thing is to go to the Silken Glider (Curragh) with her.

"I think this filly will really come into her own next year. You could see her going a mile and a quarter easily and she could have a touch of class."
