Ballyfad seals across-the-card five-timer for Elliott Ballyfad "pulled this one out of the furnace" exclaimed racecourse commentator Jerry Hannon as he gave Gordon Elliott four winners at Punchestown and five on the day. The 10/11 favourite was strongly pressed and headed on both sides by Rojuco Mac and Tountinna a furlong and a half down, but thrillingly fought back between the pair in the closing stages to win by half a length. Rojuco Mac (11/4) had to settle for second and was a length and a-quarter in front of Tountinna (33/1). Assistant trainer Lisa O’Neill said: “It looked very similar to yesterday’s bumper at Fairyhouse (won by the stable's Unflinching). You would have thought he was beaten and then he came with a second wind. “I suppose he’s not a horse that is flashy or does anything too quickly, but you’d have to like his attitude and the way he battled to come in between two horses. “Josh gave him a great ride, and it’s been a great day for the yard.” Elliott's other Punchestown winners were Santo Sospir (11/8f), Dee Capo (12/1) and Sons Of Anarchy (7/1), while Wodhooh (6/5f) struck in the Grade 2 Ascot Hurdle under Danny Gilligan.
