Barry well ahead of Chester return Eoin Griffin today reported Admiral Barry in fine form ahead of his seasonal debut in the Chester Cup tomorrow. The six-year-old is one of three Irish raiders for the opening day highlight at Chester, along with Gordon Elliott's Dirar and David Wachman's Mount Athos. Johnny Murtagh takes the ride on Admiral Barry, who enjoyed a fine season last year when claiming valuable amateur handicaps at both Galway and the Curragh. “He's in good form. It's his first run of the season,” said Griffin. “He's difficult to place over here so that's why we're travelling over. We got lucky with the draw and fingers crossed he runs well. It's a very competitive handicap. “He's won over two miles and we're going a little bit further but hopefully the trip won't be a bother. “We would have preferred a little more ease but he'll be ok on it. We haven't had much rain anywhere recently.” Gary Carson
