Beach eyes Down Royal prize Airlie Beach could put her unbeaten record on the line at Down Royal next month. The daughter of Shantou claimed her fifth win from as many starts when carrying the colours of the Supreme Horse Racing Club to victory in a Listed event at Gowran Park last Friday and now looks set for another step up in class. The owners landed the European Breeders Fund Lough Construction Ltd. Mares Novice Hurdle with Listen Dear last autumn and Airlie Beach could bid to follow in her hoofprints in the Down Royal Grade Three before being given a well-earned break. "We were over the moon with her run at Gowran against older horses. It's not easy for a novice but she did it well and keeps improving," said the club's racing manager Steve Massey. "She will need a break at some stage, but we may take in the Down Royal race we won with Listen Dear last year first. "It's a Grade Three and it's vital to get as much black type into these mares as you can. "She's five from five and really could be anything if she keeps on improving. "It's exciting times for her owners."
