Beacon Edge on course for Christmas Beacon Edge is on course for the Neville Hotels Novice Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas, with Noel Meade's retained jockey Sean Flanagan set to regain the ride on the Drinmore Chase winner. Jockey Denis O'Regan filled in for the injured Flanagan when winning Fairyhouse's Drinmore Chase last month and the seven year old gelding will now attempt a Grade 1 double at Leopardstown on December 27. Jockey Flanagan reports “I had the opportunity to ride him before I got the fall, in Down Royal and it was a very progressive run and I'd hoped he would step forward from it and he obviously has stepped forward big time from it and has won a Grade 1. “He seems quite well and has come out of the race really well and Leopardstown will suit him really well as it is a big flat galloping track. “He was very outpaced early on in the Drinmore and I rode him in the Stayers Hurdle last year and he travelled really well so three miles, you would imagine, is his ultimate trip. “If he jumps as well as he had done and steps forward a little bit, he is bang there.”
