Closefield Beau produced a game front-running performance to land the nursery at Dundalk tonight for trainer Danny McLoughlin.

Nathan Crosse was soon in front on the well-backed 11/10 favourite and asked him for maximum effort passing the furlong pole.

Mutamarid Lsk finished off well but could only get within half-a-length of the winner.

Closefield Beau had been fourth over course and distance on his last outing.

Crosse said: "We've always liked this lad.

"He's very straightforward and it was a nice opportunity for him today. He acts well on the surface.

"He got it nice in front, he had his ears pricked and wasn't doing a whole pile so, when I asked him for his effort, what he saved going around he showed in the finish.

"Danny has him well schooled and everything. It has been a good year for him on the grass and it was nice to get that."
