Benavente best in claimer Denis Hogan saddled four in the claimer at Dundalk and it was Benavente who proved best in the mile-and-a-half contest. Timandi made a move to lead over five furlongs from home and nicked a couple of lengths passing the two pole. He was chased down by Benavente, and Joey Sheridan, in the closing stages though as the 9/2 shot got on top for a half-length success. There was a tight finish for the runner-up spot as Theophilos just edged out 5/4 favourite Porsche Lad, another Hogan runner in the victorious James McAuley colours. Sheridan said: "I actually was hoping somebody would (race on) to be honest. We were going slow, but I was able to control the race from second place. "When Rory (Cleary on Timandi) went on, then we could all get our horses to drop their heads. "He picked up well and I thought he was the one in that race. I would have been disappointed if he was beaten. "The horses are in good form." Theophilos was claimed by James McAuley to be trained by Denis Hogan. (Quotes by Michael Graham)
