Berkshire is likely to be preserved for an autumn campaign following his superb victory in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot.

The Paul Cole-trained juvenile stretched two and a half lengths clear in the keenly-contested Listed contest over seven furlongs.

He is now likely to be kept until on ice until October, when the Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket and Doncaster's Racing Post Trophy could be on the agenda.

Oliver Cole, the Whatcombe handler's son and assistant, said: "He's taken his race very well, but we won't be doing much with him for a while.

"I think the plan is to look at races like the Dewhurst and the Racing Post. He's clearly a highly talented horse - probably one of the best we've had for a long time - and it was a super day for the yard."
