Bigger Placepot Pools For All Irish Tracks Tote Ireland and Totepool in Britain have recommenced the comingling of Irish Placepot pools beginning in Thurles this Thursday after successful testing at the Wexford meeting on Tuesday 22nd November. The move signals an increase in the Placepot pools as more customers will play into the larger single, combined pools. The average Placepot pool is expected to be ten times bigger with Totepool customers betting into the Irish pools. Sunday's Punchestown Placepot pool was €3,850 compared with €43,520 at Wexford yesterday when the comingling was trialed. The comingling of pools ceased in August due to a technical issue which prevented Totepool from combining their bets into the Irish hosted pools. The recommencing of the joint pools will see the same rules apply as before; a 30% deduction of pools will apply, there will be one Placepot dividend declared for each Irish meeting and Tote Ireland Placepot rules will apply to all bets placed. Tim Higgins, CEO of Tote Ireland, said: “We are delighted to once again work with our partners in Britain. Tote Ireland will continue to look for new and exciting ways for people to play for bigger Placepot pools. Bigger pools mean bigger payouts and this will be a welcome announcement for all Placepot players.” Steve Burke, Operations Manager of Totepool, said: “Totepool and Betfred are pleased to announce that from Tuesday 22nd November onwards all Placepot bets struck in the UK on Irish meetings will be commingled into Placepot pools hosted by Tote Ireland. This is a change to revert back to how such Placepot bets were handled before August this year. We believe this change will be beneficial to all of our customers as we will see more liquidity in pools with bets from both sides of the Irish Sea going into the same pool.”
