Billie Be Quick (3/1f) gained a second career success both over Down Royal’s five-furlongs sprint distance today, when overcoming trouble in-running to land the Future Ticketing x Kappture Handicap for trainer Jessica Harrington and jockey Keithen Kennedy.

Held up and initially sluggish in rear, Billie Be Quick travelled well to chase the leaders from halfway but had no racing room with over a furlong to race. However Kennedy eventually squeezed the gelding through a gap between horses in the closing stages, with the pair scoring by 1.25 lengths from Vanderbilt House .

Regarding his troubled passage through the race, Kennedy commented “I thought I'd rather be done for being unlucky than for coming too wide, so I bided my time and waited for gaps. When they came, she went straight through them and that's just her style of running.

“She loves it around here.”

The 5lb claimer added “I’m off to Ayr tomorrow (to ride Saratoga Special in Listed race) so a big thanks to Mrs Harrington and everyone at home for putting me up. I'm looking forward to that and can't wait."
