Black Sam placed at Longchamp Aidan O`Brien`s Black Sam Bellamy was denied by Khalkevi and Louveteau in the French Derby prep, the Group Two Prix Hocquart, at Longchamp today.The full-brother to Galileo led going to the final two furlongs under Michael Kinane, only for the unbeaten Khalkevi to show the most effective finishing speed.Brought to the outside by Christophe Soumillon, the Aga Khan runner staked his French Derby claims with a decisive three quarters of a length win.Louveteau chased Khalkevi hard and deprived Black Sam Bellamy of second by half a length. The Ballydoyle colt was later promoted a place to second.Louveteau, ridden by Dominique Boeuf, was adjudged to have hampered Morozov and was demoted from second to fifth by the stewards.Boeuf was also banned two days for his troubles.The Aga Khan said: 'Like his sire, Khalkevi bounds over the ground. He may be small but he is very athletic.'Christophe Soumillon added: 'Khalkevi is a small horse with a big heart. I foresee no problems in the horse handling Chantilly.'Boeuf, rider of the demoted Louveteau, bemoaned: 'I came through to challenge the winner and would have won granted a clear run.'Michael Kinane, rider of Black Sam Bellamy said: 'The colt is still maturing. Ideally, he would like softer ground.'
