Bob for Ascot

Dessie Hughes expects Rare Bob to bounce back to form when he heads across the Irish Sea to contest the Betfair Ascot Chase on Saturday week.

The eight-year-old won a Grade One at last year's Punchestown Festival but finished last of five after returning from a nine-month break at Fairyhouse in January.

He holds an entry in this weekend's Red Mills Chase at Gowran Park but is likely to wait an extra week and bid for further Grade One glory in Berkshire.

"He needed the run at Fairyhouse and the ground was also very heavy, which doesn't suit him," said Hughes.

"He seems in good form now and the plan is for him to go to Ascot on Saturday week for the Grade One.

"I think they have prize-money down to seventh so it is worth having a go and hopefully we'll get that better ground over there."
