The Gordon Elliott trained Bonisland made the successful transition from point-to-point's to the racecourse proper as he took bumper at Roscommon this evening under Jamie Codd.

The 4yo son of Heron Island fell at the first on his debut in a point-to-point at Lemonfield in March however he got it right on his next start scoring impressively by twelve lengths at Sligo.

Trained by Donnchadh Doyle when point-to-pointing, he changed hands at the Brightwells Cheltenham National Hunt Sales in May for £125,000.

Racing in the colours of Gigginstown House Stud today, he kept on well in the home straight to beat the Dessie Hughes trained, Johnny King ridden Thunder And Roses (also in the Gigginstown colours) at 10/3 by a length.

The 6/4 favourite Couleur France was a further two lengths back in third under Nina Carberry for Noel Meade.

The winner opened at 13/8 with Paddy Powers this morning but drifted out to an opening show on-course of 10/3 and touched 4/1 before being returned at 7/2.

Gordon Elliott said afterwards: "I think he'll come a good bit from that. We've not been able to get him anywhere at all. He is still only a 4yo and he has a lot of filling out to do."
