Bowen Mulling Genghis Options Peter Bowen has yet to decide whether to send hurdler Genghis to Newcastle or Newbury on Saturday. The six-year-old would be meeting classy rivals on level terms in the Grade One Pertemps 'Fighting Fifth' Hurdle at Gosforth Park or if he goes south, he would have to carry top weight of 11st 10lb in the Stan James Intermediate Hurdle at the Berkshire course. 'He runs somewhere on Saturday and I´ll talk to the owners hopefully later today and then we´ll make up our minds,' said the Haverfordwest-based handler. 'If I can get a top-class jockey, he´d probably go to Newcastle. If not he´ll go to Newbury where Richard Johnson would ride him.' Bowen felt Genghis put up a decent performance on his latest start last month when beaten five lengths by 2003 Champion Hurdle winner Rooster Booster. 'It was a good run by him last time when he was second to Rooster Booster and he´s in fine form.' ? PA Sport
