Bridie's Beau (5/2 fav) was a ready winner of the 2m3f handicap hurdle at Punchestown for Gavin Cromwell and Keith Donoghue.

The Blue Bresil gelding, placed in a couple of bumpers for Paul Nicholls, had shown promise when fifth on handicap debut at Limerick and travelled well behind the leaders before slipping through on the inner to hit the front on the home turn. From there the winner wasn't hard pressed to come home six lengths clear of John The Diva

“He had a nice run in Limerick where he was staying on well at the finish. He was stepping up in trip and he’s improved a bit from Limerick. That was nice,” said Cromwell.

“It’s great for the owner, Owen Daley, who came across from the UK yesterday for Individualiste and this fella. He just has the two with us, so it worked out great that at least one of them won.

“The handicapper is probably going to give him a good old whack but hopefully he can keep progressing.”
