Browne guides Police to first win Chief Of Police survived a couple of mid-race errors to get off the mark over fences at the second time of asking at Limerick this afternoon. Barry Browne had to sit tight on a few occasions through the race but Oliver McKiernan's charge was good over the last couple down the straight. He claimed 7/4 favourite Thermistocles after the final fence and held the late charge of that horse's stable-mate Ellipsism to record a half length success. The 9/4 winner, who had been placed a couple of times over timber, had been supported from 3/1 in the morning. The race was slightly delayed as Geoffrey's Girl needed the attention of the farrier.
