Caesar Rock a maiden no more after all the way Tramore win Almost certainly one of the longest standing maiden chasers in the country, Caesar Rock made the breakthrough at the 23rd attempt when putting in an exhibition of jumping to win the Seamus Byrne Electrical Chase at Tramore. Only once successful in 34 career starts prior to today, that solitary win came in a novice hurdle at Wexford back in April 2022. A sound jumper since switching to fences, the nine-year-old had been placed in 10 of his runs over the larger obstacles. Intent on making the most of his experience, Darragh O'Keeffe set out his stall from flag fall, making the running and asking his mount for big jumps throughout. Kicking on after two out, Caesar Rock looked in trouble as both Yeats Star and Dark Note closed between the final two fences but a good jump at the last sealed the issue as the eventual winner surged clear to score by three-and-a-quarter lengths. Darragh O'Keeffe said: "He jumped brilliant and loved the nice ground. Just four runners and the favourite (Spanish Harlem) coming out was a help. Mouse just said to do whatever and we thought we might be able to get to the front and jump away, it worked out great. He likes dictating and bossing things. It's great for Mouse and the O'Flynn's as well." Additional reporting by Donal Murphy.
