Carlingford fine after Leopardstown spill Carlingford Lough is reported to be none the worse for his final-fence exit from the Dr. P.J. Moriarty Novice Chase at Leopardstown on Sunday. The John Kiely-trained eight-year-old was about to make his challenge in the three-runner Grade One event when he unseated Tony McCoy at the last. Connections will give last summer's Galway Plate hero time to recover before deciding whether to send him to Cheltenham, where he holds an entry in the RSA Chase. He is also in the Crabbie's Grand National. "He's come out of the race good, he's fine and not a bother on him," said Frank Berry, racing manager to owner J P McManus. "I don't know what we'll do with him now. We'll give him a week and see how things go." Berry admitted the same owner's Plinth was well-beaten when third to Guitar Pete in the Gala Retail Spring Juvenile Hurdle on the same card. "He got well beat and it didn't look like he was good enough. The winner was very good on the day and it's hard to make excuses. I've no idea what we'll do with him at the moment," he said.
