Carroll doubles up as Henry makes it three on the day Successful from the front in the opener on Southern Boulevard, Gary Carroll successfully employed similar tactics on Wearing Stars (9/4) in Dundalk’s one-mile maiden. Trained for Ben Halsall by Henry de Bromhead, Wearing Stars had run creditably in stakes company on her previous outing at Killarney in August and had been placed four times in maidens prior to that. In front after two furlongs, the 85-rated winner was pressed by market leader Lookingforarainbow inside the final furlong and kept on well to fend off that rival by three-parts of a length. “She’s a good genuine filly. She has been knocking on the door in decent maidens and has just been getting nabbed,” said Carroll. “Things went smooth for me. She travelled nicely, picked up when I wanted her and galloped to the line. “I thought she picked up well early in the straight and, if anything, I probably went a little bit soon but she hung on.” It was a third winner of the day for de Bromhead who was successful with Ash Hobbs and Matin Midi Et Soir at Down Royal’s afternoon session.
