Champion apprentice 'nets another winner Champion apprentice Paddy Harnett was an appropriate winner during this first week of the Dundalk's winter series today, steering Justenzia (11/2) to land the BAR 1 Betting 'Acca Boost' Apprentice Handicap for trainer Denis Hogan. Harnett, 24, last Sunday claimed the breakthrough title success in his ninth season riding as an apprentice and, today, steered the Varland Syndicate-owned Justenzia to score comfortably from Showyoutheropes . Harnett revealed "it means a lot to win the title as I've been riding a number of years, so to win it was a reward as there's been plenty of ups and downs. One year, I had 18 seconds but looking back on it now, it was probably the best thing that ever happened. I haven't run through my claim too quickly, which was probably a bonus, as I got plenty of experience instead.” He added “this is great to ride a winner for Denis (Hogan) who has supported me since I started and I've ridden plenty of winners for him. "It was a bit messy from the '5' (furlong maker) home, but I got lovely gaps and everything appeared. In fairness, I coaxed her up the straight and in the last furlong I went for everything, and she really lengthened up to the line. "She has got great heart and likes the surface."
