Expensive breezer bags Dundalk maiden Expensive breeze-up purchase Ladies Gossip (9/4) scored on her second start today, landing Dundalk’s Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden for owner Mark Dobbin, jockey Joey Sheridan and trainer Joseph O’Brien. The daughter of Calyx was bought following her ‘breeze’ for €170,000 last May and, having shown nice promise on her course debut last month, today scored a battling performance in a useful maiden, when beating Bougie Gals by a half-length. Sheridan, with a career-best fifth-placing in the jockeys’ championship which concluded last Sunday, said "there was strong wind here the last day and the kickback was very bad. For a filly having her first run, it was a bit intimidating and there was a lot on. That experience stood to her and she was able to get in among them today and hit the line strong. "Today, we went quite steady, but she jumped and travelled and quickened up. She didn't do a whole pile when she got there, so I'm sure she will improve too. "She probably could go a mile, but seven (furlongs) seems a good trip for her." Quotes from Michael Graham
