Mick Channon will consider a tilt at the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot with Saturday's impressive Newmarket winner Jallota.

The Rock Of Gibraltar colt is a son of Lady Lahar, who won the Futurity Stakes in 2000 for Channon.

After showing up well in maidens at Newbury and York, the two-year-old appears to have gained some valuable experience and Channon feels he would not be out of place in his Ascot team.

"You should have seen him in the New Year, he was a big, daft playboy who would bounce around everywhere with little regard for what we were trying to do for him," the trainer told www.mickchannon.tv.

"He's always shown us plenty but we had to get him racing to knock that daft streak out of him.

"Since his debut at Newbury, he's changed beyond all recognition. He ran a belter at York to finish third and despite jumping out to the right, Sam (Hitchcott) levelled him up and he did it very nicely.

"I trained the dam Lady Lahar and she had an awful lot of ability so I think he's fairly decent and although he'll need further in time, we'd have to look at the Coventry on that showing."
