Chapple-Hyam Maps Out Vegas Plans

Peter Chapple-Hyam has elected to take an orthodox route to the Ladbrokes St Leger with Mr Vegas and will run the colt in a Group race as his Doncaster prep.

Mr Vegas, winner of the Bahrain Trophy on his latest outing at the Newmarket July meeting, is to tackle either the Daily Telegraph Great Voltigeur Stakes at York or the Stan James Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury en route to the final Classic.

Mr Vegas is also entered in the totesport Ebor, but Chapple-Hyam explained: 'I will pull him out of that at the next forfeit stage as I´m sure it makes more sense to go for a traditional Leger trial with him.

'He has delighted me since the July meeting and although he made the running there and enjoys doing that, he doesn´t have to lead.'

Chapple-Hyam sent out an impressive two-year-old in the shape of Just Intersky at Newcastle on Wednesday and he added: 'I won´t rush him. We´ll take him step by step but I imagine he will go for a novice race next.'
