Today's meeting at Clonmel has been cancelled as parts of the track are waterlogged.

Conditions were being monitored from early this morning due to persistent heavy rain, and officials took the decision to cancel the meeting after 10am with a poor forecast for the reminder of the day.

Clerk of the Course Lorcan Wyer said, "Some parts of the course are waterlogged and some parts are inconsistent. At the moment only two fences are fit to jump.

"Our first priority is always the safety of man and beast, and the reality is we wouldn't get through the day."

Meanwhile the ground at Punchestown is currently described as soft, soft to heavy in places, ahead of the Grade 1 John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase on Sunday.

Persistent rain is forecast for today, with conditions mainly dry tomorrow before further heavy rain on Saturday.
