A multiple winner last season, the Andy Slattery trained Cloud Seeker improved from his recent return at Tipperary to land the Leopardstown Golf And Driving Range Handicap at the Foxrock track.

Up with the pace from the off, the four-year-old was taken on by San Andreas for the lead in the early part of the race. Mastering that rival over three-furlongs out, jockey Andrew Slattery kicked for home entering the straight. Ceallach looked a real threat when coming through under Luke McAteer to go second over two-furlongs from the finish. However, Cloud Seeker found plenty once asked to go and win his race, keeping on stoutly to hold on for a neck victory.

Third placed Lady Lunette produced a strong late run to get within a short head of the runner-up.

Andy Slattery said: “He’s a grand horse and won four last year.

“He just needed the run in Tipperary and we’ll give him an entry in Royal Ascot and something like the Ragusa in the Curragh.

“He idles in front and keeps a bit for himself in the finish.

“Pat (Garvey, owner) likes to have a runner in Royal Ascot so hopefully we’ll go there.

“He goes on any ground and jumps hurdles very well too so he has that option as well.”
